kay hagan: democratic challenger

19 09 2008

as promised, and no doubt heavily anticipated, here is our little shout out to kay hagan. holla!

kay served as the vice-president of the largest bank in north carolina, (bank of america) and then went on to become state senator (for nc., obviously) where she served for a decade. currently, she is the co-chair of the appropriations committee.

kay had several (5) competitors in the primaries– most notably jim neal, an openly gay obama supporter who pulled ahead of kay in the polls back in april. since kay’s nomination, he has encouraged his supporters to give her their vote.

take it to the bridge——

iraq war: oppose

children’s healthcare: support

raising min. wage: support

veteran care: support

drivers licenses for illegal immigrants: oppose

expanding early education: support

strong military: support

right to choose (“abortion”): support

so basically… kay is a democrat who follows the party line. although she projects herself as an independent voice for washington (unique politician or political rhetoric?). remember, 2008 is all about change. right, lizzy?

this post is not as extensive as elizabeth dole’s catfight cameo, but thats what happens when you don’t have the name recognition of the incument.
HOWEVER: this is one of the top two closest senate races in the nation. north carolina, a generally red state, is, in the polls, consistently giving kay hagan a 3-5% majority of the vote. statitstical tie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you on the edge of your seat?

kay is favoured by the powers that be because she is a democrat. the last four gobernational contests have been won by the d’s, and they currently control both chambers of the legislature. in the streets, people are calling it a rennaissance.

please gear up for the next post, which will include some analysis, and also some youtube.
